Written By: Andrea Sanchez-Mendoza When owning your own business one typically dances on a fine line of work and play which can sometimes be blurred. Putting in the extra hours to make your enterprise thrive is okay but it’s when those extra hours completely overhaul your personal life that raises the question of when is too much, too much?
Founders and minorities in the workplace need to set boundaries for themselves such as limits of how much we can do at one time, and being realistic about the amount of time we can dedicate to accomplish tasks. Thinking of boundaries as self care can be a little weird but we as a society need to learn that it's ok to say no in the name of self care. We need to set aside time for ourselves to recharge our batteries in order to give out the best version of ourselves. One of the things my mother always says is that you cannot pour from an empty cup. That is, it is very hard to constantly pour into and care for others, without showing yourself that same level of attention, grace, and care. The way we spend our free time in the name of self care looks different to everyone. To learn all about the different ways our family here at Represented Foundation do for their self care routine, check out this post here!
